What kinds of used vehicles can you get for less than $20k?

What kinds of used vehicles can you get for less than $20k?

Published on Mar 27, 2024 by Schrier Automotive

One of the main reasons people shop for used vehicles over new ones is price, but even used vehicles can get pricey depending on certain factors. For example, the less used a vehicle is, the less it’s marked down from its original price. So, if you’re currently looking at a used 2024 model with less than 10k miles on the odometer, there’s a pretty good chance it’d only be a few thousand dollars off from its original base MSRP. But the older a vehicle is or the more mileage it has on it, the more affordable it becomes. And there’s nothing wrong with older vehicles, other than maybe not having some of the newer bells and whistles. A great price point to try to search under is $20k, so if that’s where your budget resides you should read on as we’re going to highlight what kinds of used vehicles you can get for less than that.

Examples of Available Vehicles

Naturally our inventory is constantly in flux. We don’t sell specific makes and models like a new car dealership, so our inventory is often dependent on what customers trade into us as well as which models you all are purchasing. But we can at least use the inventory that we currently have in stock at the time of this page’s creation to give you an example of the types of vehicles you can find in our inventory for less than $20,000.

To give you an idea, we have 10 vehicles within that price range in stock right now, out of a total of 73 vehicles in our inventory as a whole. You can find all of these vehicles by clicking the “Under $20k” button in the navigation at the top of our website, but keep in mind that this also includes any vehicles marked as “Call For Price,” which aren’t necessarily within that price range.

Looking at the 10 vehicles available for less than $20k, it includes a model from 2006, but then the rest are all from the 2012 to 2016 model years. The 2006 model is actually one of our most interesting models currently and it has a great price. It’s a 2006 Ford Mustang GT Deluxe with just over 84,000 miles on the odometer and it’s available for $15,592.

The available vehicles we currently have include models of all body styles, including pickup trucks, sedans, crossovers and hatchbacks. We’ll just go ahead and list each of the models we currently have in stock along with their mileage and price to really give you a sample of what you might see in our inventory*.

  • 2012 RAM 1500 ST; 91.2k miles; $17,452
  • 2014 Honda Crosstour EX; 77k miles; $16,988
  • 2013 Chrysler 300 S; 86.1k miles; $16,788
  • 2013 Chrysler 300 S; 88.9k miles; $15,988
  • 2014 Chevy Traverse LTZ; 100.6k miles; $15,988
  • 2016 Ford Explorer XLT; 150.2k miles; $15,388
  • 2015 Honda Accord LX; 111.3k miles; $15,267
  • 2013 Mini Cooper Base; 75.3k miles; $14,988
  • 2013 Subaru Outback 2.5I Limited; 129.1k miles; $13,988

If any of these models sound interesting, check the date on this post and see how recently it was shared, maybe one of them is still available! Hopefully, this shows you just how diverse the options are within your price range. You can still get some pretty exciting nameplates, they might just be older models like the 2006 Mustang or have more mileage than usual like the 2016 Explorer. Be sure to check out what we currently have available in your price range and don’t hesitate to give us a call with any questions you might have.
